Madras Institute of Technology organised national conference on ‘Advances in Polymer Composites’

The Department of Rubber and Plastics Technology, MIT Campus Anna University, Chennai organised Two-Day National conference. It was supported by FRP Institute, Chennai. The objective of the conference was to explore the advancements in composite materials and their implementation towards the development of low-cost and high-efficiency fabrication of advanced polymer composites, which remains a great challenge and thorny issue. This conference featured invited lectures by eminent experts and provided a forum for researchers, scientists, faculty, and industry representatives to discuss the most recent innovations, trends, research aspects, practical challenges, and solutions to advances in polymer composites.

The conference covered a wide range of topics, including advanced matrices and reinforcements, composites for sustainability, composites for automobiles and aerospace applications, composites for construction industries, advanced nanocomposites, technical textiles, and challenges in composite recycling. The total number of technical paper presenters was 58. Several key note presentations highlighted groundbreaking research and advancements in polymer composites. Participants are from academics and industries in both areas. Several sponsors were part of the conference too.

This National Conference was inaugurated by Prof.Dr. J. Prakash, Registrar, Anna University, and delivered the Presidential Address. Also, Prof.Dr.K. Ravichandran, Dean, MIT Campus, Anna University, delivered the Felicitation address. Dr. Saji Devadathan, Retd. Sr. Principal Scientist and Dy. Head QA, Advanced Composites Division, CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore, has consented as Chief Guest and delivered the Inaugural Address. The Convener and Prof. Dr. L.S. Jayakumari, Head, Department of Rubber and Plastics Tech welcomed the gathering and Prof. Dr. K. Elangovan, Department of RPT, highlighted about the conference. A Special address was delivered by Dr. A. Selvam, Executive Secretary, FRP Institute, Chennai.

The conference provided ample networking opportunities for participants to connect and exchange ideas for possible collaboration. Overall, the conference highlighted the significant progress made in the field of polymer composites.
